We are starting this GoFundMe drive for Donny Overholser, a long time friend and President  of Fort Myers American Youth Baseball and Softball for 54 years, as well as, Bishop Verot's Athletic Booster Club for 36 years.  If you are not aware, Donny has had a rough summer; he first went to the ER two months ago with severe pain in his right hip, but was sent home without x-rays and told to rest for two weeks and it would be better.  After two weeks the pain was worse and intense, and finally, Donny had to be taken back to the hospital by ambulance.  Upon a thorough exam this time, it was discovered that he had a broken hip, and had been sent home that way after the first ER visit.  So, he had emergency surgery to completely replace his hip, and after another couple of weeks was released to a rehabilitation facility to begin rehab.  After two weeks at the rehab facility, he was notified that he had been exposed to, and had contracted COVID 19.  He is awaiting a second test, but is stuck for now until a negative test result is obtained.  It has been a long two months that he has been isolated at the rehab center since the COVID rules are in effect, and all patient are confined to their rooms; needless to say, medical bills are really piling up on him, including the fact that he will need to buy a specialty type adjustable bed to be able to sleep in once he can be released to go home.  
Please find it in your hearts to help this man; he has done so much for the youth and families in our community and now it is our turn to help him.  This situation was no fault of his, but rather a grueling misdiagnoses from the start, and then the COVID diagnosis which has slowed his rate of recovery and his ability to go home.  Donny is a humble, selfless man, and would never reach out for the financial help that he so desperately needs at this time.
