Dear Family and Friends,
It is with heavy hearts that we share devastating news: John Ferrandino — “Dino” — and his family are facing an unimaginable crisis.
On Thursday, September 11th, John was in a serious accident and suffered a traumatic brain injury (TBI). He was brought to the hospital unresponsive, with multiple skull fractures and brain bleeds, and has already endured several life-saving surgeries. He remains in a coma as doctors fight to keep him alive. Should John wake, his rehabilitation will be long, intensive, and uncertain, leaving him unable to return to work in the foreseeable future.
What many may not know is that John was already struggling financially due to unemployment. Now, in addition to overwhelming medical expenses, his family must also manage everyday costs while supporting his two beloved children — one in college and the other preparing to start. John was especially proud to see his daughter begin her journey at the University of Virginia this fall, a dream he had spoken about with such joy.
We know John in so many ways: as a devoted father, neighbor, and friend, as a “Tiger Dad” cheering on Shaila and Nico during years of travel sports, and as the extraordinary athlete who made history on the soccer field. His legacy at George Mason University — where he played Division I Men’s Soccer and was later inducted into the Hall of Fame — is a testament to his incredible dedication and talent.
No one ever imagines facing something like this. Yet here we are. And the best way we can help right now is by rallying together for John and his family. John has always been the first to step up for others — family, friends, and even strangers. Now, it is our turn to step up for him.
We recognize this is a significant fundraising goal. We are not asking anyone to give beyond their means. But even the smallest gifts of grace can have a profound impact when combined with the love and generosity of all who care for John. Every prayer, donation, and act of kindness brings his family one step closer to hope and healing. With deep gratitude, John’s family and loved ones thank you for standing by them❤️
Please consider donating and sharing this page so we can reach as many people as possible. Together, we can help ease the burden, fuel John’s fight for recovery, and remind his family that they are not alone.
