NEW UPDATE!!

DALLAS IS HOME!!
We could not be more thrilled to have Dallas home with us. He is happy to be home as well. He is still going through a lot. His face is swollen and he is bruised across his nose, eyes and around his mouth. And he has stitches under his nose. He has a 5" incision on his lower gumline in front where they put the plate in. We thought his mouth was going to be rubber banded shut, but is is the oppisite. He can't shut his mouth! Therefore drool is constantly running down his chin. He can drink water if he puts his finger on the tip of a straw and drops it in his mouth. Because he is unable to suck on the straw. And he can eat soft foods if it is mashed up and watery. Of course very little of what he puts in his mouth actually stays there. We are just glad he is getting some kind of nourish.ent and he is being a trooper through it all. We really are proud of him. He has to be back in Birmingham to see the doctors in 2 weeks and again 2 weeks after that.
Leanna has been able to do her PT so we are hoping to get her out of the hospital real soon. We want to say a great big THANK YOU to all the people who open their hearts and donated to help us towards our goal. The have been so generous. It will go a long way to helping get Dallas to the doctors in Birmingham. Medical bills and Christmas. But what is needed most right now is a dependable vehicle so Dillon can get back to work. If you dont mind please share our go fund me so we can reach that goal. The love, support and prayers we have received have been awsome!! Please continue to pray as this is not over with yet. Blessings to you and your families.

UPDATE!!
Dallas had surgery today. And we are happy to announce he is recovering well.
The doctor said the surgery on his nasal cavity went well and the fitting of both his Mandibles are looking good as well.
But they ended up having to pull his 4 front bottom teeth so that they could put a steel plate on his chin to hold it together.
Two of the teeth they pulled were permanent teeth.
He will also have a brace on his lower jaw with rubber bands to keep it shut.
The doctor said if everything continues to go well he can come home later this week but will need to go back to Birmingham in two weeks for a follow up.
Soft foods only for the first month then back to Birmingham to see what the doctor says.
And as has been the case, Dallas was trooper through the whole process.
His Mom, Leanna is still in USA hospital in Mobile. She has been trying to start her PT, but having difficulty putting any weight on the left leg. But she keeps trying.
Doctor said she might be able to come home at the first of next week if she can put weight on that leg. But she will have a long recovery.
I want to say THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH to the people who have made donations to help our family in our time of need. You are all Angels in my eyes.
And THANK YOU for all the prayers!! And well wishes.
Prayers do change things!
I told Dallas he had a lot of people that care about him and he wanted to know their names. Lol. I told him I he could read them when he got home.
Again THANK YOU!!
May each and everyone of you be blessed.
Check out the new photos I posted.

Hello Everyone,

Six year old DALLAS ADKINS AND HIS PARENTS were in their vehicle Friday morning, December 1, when a Black Chevy 1500 ran a red light and t-boned their vehicle pushing it across 2 lanes of traffic and into a tree.
Although the truck had a blown tire on the driver's side and damage to the front of the vehicle, the driver chose to flee the scene. Not caring if anyone was hurt.
The police are looking for the driver and the truck.
Unfortunately Dallas and his Mom, Leanna Adkins were seriously injured.
Dallas got the worst of it. His jaw is broken in 3 places. Both of the Mandible's are broken and his chin is broken, and all his bottom teeth are pushed back. The impact was so hard he has imprints of his bottom teeth on the roof of his mouth.
It also broke one of his nasal cavities.
He has not been able to open his mouth to eat or even speak.
An ambulance transported him to USA Hospital in Mobile, AL but they had him and his Dad transported to UAB CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL in Birmingham, AL to see Pediactric Specialist due to the extensive damage to his jaw.
He will be having reconstructive surgery on Monday December 4. The Dental Surgeon and Plastic surgeon will be working together. One will fix his bones and the other will set his teeth back in their cavities.
He will then have a brace on his bottom teeth with rubber bands to keep his mouth closed.
The length of time he will not be able to open his mouth is undetermined as of yet. We are praying there will be no permanent damage or problems in the future, although the doctors said there is a possibility that he could experience yellowing of the teeth or his teeth falling back.
Dallas has been so brave and strong through this whole ordeal. Since he can't open his mouth to speak he has been learning some sign language so that he can communicate.
His mother, Leanna's foot and ankle were badly broken. Her foot was broken in several places, the doctors performed surgery on her foot the day of the accident. Her ankle was so badly broken they had to wait until the next day to do surgery. The ball that holds the foot to the ankle was completely dislocated and broken.
They had to put 3 pins in her ankle that she will have for the rest of her life. And she has a lot of terrible brusing.
She is still in the hospital in Mobile. She will have to have a lot of Physical Therapy.
She too has been strong through this whole ordeal.
Dillon, Dallas' father has an injury at the base of his skull and on his back, next to his spine but has refused treatment to stay by his son and wife's side.
Unfortunately this unexpected event is going to cause the family financial difficulties from extra medical cost and travel expenses. Also they did not have insurance to cover their vehicle. As you can imagine it is hard to survive without transportation. They will need a new vehicle so Dillon can get back and forth to work, take their daughter to her cheer practices and events and everyday life.
Also this couldn't have happened at a worse time as they haven't been able to buy Christmas for their children yet.
ANY donation you could make would be greatly appreciate and put to good use.
Thank you in advance for your kindness.
We would like to take a minute to to say THANK YOU to all the Nurses, Doctors, Ambulance EMT's and to all the PEOPLE ON FACEBOOK who have shared hit and run story to try and help find the driver of the truck.
And last but not least all the people who have been praying.
The struggle is not over yet.
Please continue to pray. And Thank you for taking the time to read this.
