Help Support Our Dad, Charlie

Our dad, Chuck Van De Kreeke—though most people know him simply as Charlie—is the heart of our family. He’s a husband, dad, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. He’s also someone with a big heart, an even bigger sense of humor, and a way of lifting people up even when life gets tough.

Over the past year, Parkinson’s disease has started to change his daily life more than ever before. In the last 6–8 months especially, we’ve watched it take away things he loves—like his 35+ year passion for golf, a game that brought him joy and friendships for decades. This September, things got harder when he broke his hip. He spent three weeks working so hard in intensive inpatient rehab, but unfortunately, ongoing medical complications set him back and eventually landed him back in the hospital. In just a short time, all the progress he had made was lost.

Through it all, Dad has stayed positive and never lost his humor. Even on the hardest days, he still finds a way to laugh with us, remind us what matters, and show us his determination to keep fighting. His next step will be moving to a skilled nursing facility to continue rehab with the ultimate goal of returning home.

Behind the scenes, our mom—his wife and caretaker—has been by his side every step of the way. Caring for him these last few years has been a full-time job, and the past year has taken a toll on her own health.

With all the uncertainties ahead, we are asking for support. Donations will go toward Dad’s medical bills, rehab costs, and the daily care he will need moving forward. This GoFundMe is just one piece of a larger effort—his amazing friends have also organized the CVDK Scramble Golf Outing on October 18th at Town & Country Golf to raise funds in his honor. The love and support from his community means so much to him, especially as golf has always been one of his greatest passions.
