TEAM CORY - Kick Cancer to the Curb!!!
Cory visited an urgent care clinic on January 2nd, and discovered through testing the following day that the pain she had been experiencing was due to several growing masses throughout her body. She quickly had a biopsy performed by one of the best surgical GI specialists in the area and was able to conclude that she has metastatic adenocarcinoma. Cory has 2 masses in her liver, malignant lymph nodes, two masses around her pancreas and an unknown abnormality in her gallbladder. She will be seeing the best in the industry at MD Anderson in Houston this Monday, February 3 and expects to stay the week. The cost of her initial MDA consultation {not including treatment} will be $16,000.
Due to her diagnosis and it’s effect on her daily well-being, she is no longer working and able to support her entire household. Her husband George is retired and currently the primary caregiver for their 2 children, Sylvia {8 years} and Dominic {5 years}. They have also recently decided to sell their forever home and move into a more affordable rental.
The Marquise family uses Christian Healthcare Ministries as their cost-sharing medical plan. The plan requires the policy holder to pay out of pocket and then be reimbursed, which will be difficult when paying large amounts for consults and treatments. Cory’s Globe Life cancer plan will help with travel costs and some of the treatment, but the Marquise family will still need all the financial support they can get for living costs for their family such as rent, groceries, utilities, etc. Any amount, big or small, would be such a blessing to their family. Cory has selflessly served the public as an RN for 19 years, while nailing her role as a wife, mother & friend. She is the most giving person I’ve ever known and constantly gives her time, support and effort to others. It’s also not uncommon for her to give a “this made me think of you” gift to a friend or family member. I feel absolutely blessed to have Cory as a friend and I know many others feel the same. Her son, Dominic, recently told her he wishes this was all a dream. Cory’s diagnosis is already impacting her children and husband In ways I cannot begin to imagine. Anyone who knows Cory, knows she is a Super Woman who can juggle many glass balls (aka life, family, work, friendships) and never drop a single one! If you've been blessed to call Cory a family member, colleague, friend, neighbor, or even an acquaintance, I know for a fact you’ve been touchedby her kind, giving spirit. I prayerfully ask for her community who she’s given so much to, to pull together and help her KICK CANCER TO THE CURB!!!
