Macy and Andy tried for 5 years, after losing their first baby, to start their little family. After close to 5 years of trying, they were told by their doctors that it would not be possible for them to conceive naturally. After lots of prayers and tears, God answered our prayers and blessed them with a sweet baby boy, Colton Harley Kincaid, this past August.

Macy and Andy's sweet baby, Colton Harley, was born with a rare and complex birth defect called bladder exstrophy, where the bladder develops outside the body. This diagnosis means our little one faces multiple surgeries, long hospital stays, and ongoing specialized care in order to live a healthy and full life.

Bladder Exstrophy effects 1 in 30-50,000 births. This is a rare condition that causes the bladder to form outside of the abdomen, his pelvis bones to not fully close and his genitals to be split open. The way it has been explained to us in the NICU is the bladder is normally round, but die to this condition, Colton's bladder is open exposing the inside of his bladder to the outside world. This occurs around 4-5 weeks of conception and is sometimes not caught on ultrasounds. While it is something that can be fixed, it is costly and will require multiple appointments. Macy and Andy have talked to three Urologists about the procedures that little Colton will need. Unfortunately, with this condition, Colton will likely never have full continence but the goal is for him to be socially dry. This means he may only leak a little while doing strenuous exercises, working out or playing sports. After talking with each Urologist, they have decided that if they wanted to give Colton the best chance at being as dry as possible that they would need to travel to Boston Children's Hospital for the procedures. They do not have definitive surgery dates but the first surgery will likely be done in November. The procedures will be split up over two days and Macy and Andy will be in Boston for up to 2 weeks, maybe longer. Once they get Colton back home, he will have multiple follow up appointments with their Urologist in Orlando.

It was not an easy decision for Macy and Andy to let her dad and I set up this GoFundMe page, but they did agree so we can help them in every way that we can to make it easier on them financially to pay for the cost of their medical bills for sweet Colton and his care.

The road ahead is long, uncertain, and very costly. Between medical bills, frequent out-of-state travel to hospitals and specialists, lost work hours, and everyday household, it's an overwhelming time for this family. On top of that, we are doing everything we can to make sure Colton has the best chance to grow strong and thrive.
