Team Colette: Let’s Play Every Position in Her Cancer Fight

At just 39, Colette should be living the life she loves—teaching at kinder, playing netball for Cudgewa, and cheering on her two beautiful boys, Greyson (6) and Walker (4).

Instead, she is facing not one, but two cancer diagnoses: Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Stage 4 Metastatic Colorectal Cancer.

What started as a sore back led to an initial lymphoma diagnosis, only to later discover the primary source was advanced colorectal cancer.

Since then, Colette has had to stop working, stepping away from the kinder room she loved and the independence she valued. Her partner, Garon, who works at Snowy Hydro, is now juggling work, caring for Greyson and Walker, and supporting Colette as she faces the toughest fight of her life.

A Small-Town Girl

Colette grew up riding horses and working on the family farm, learning the values that come from living in a small, tight-knit community—showing up for your neighbours, lending a hand, and never giving up when times are tough.

It’s that same spirit she brings to her life now, as a kinder teacher who brightens the days of little ones, and as a steady GS on the netball court for the Cudgewa Football Netball Club. It’s the same club where her son, Greyson, now proudly pulls on the jumper to play footy, just like his mum.

The Treatments Giving Colette Hope

Colette is currently undergoing a combination of immunotherapy, targeted therapy, and chemotherapy—treatments that together are costing her family $75,000 +, with many of these not covered by Medicare.

While this is a significant cost, these treatments are giving Colette her best chance to continue fighting both cancers.
