"Team Christie"

Christie was on her way to the Michael Buble concert but had been having headaches and now some blurry vision. Steve said no to the concert and headed to the hospital. We got the tragic news of several tumors in her brain. Within a week, Christie had two brain surgeries in one day, a near-death occurrence, and having part of her skull removed to ease the brain swelling and bleeding, Christie’s prognosis was dire. Like the doctors kept saying that early week, “We are not in charge right now. It’s in God’s hands, and it’s the fight in Christie that will get us through the next week.” Well, the good news is that Christie is a fighter, and in the last month, when no one knew how she may or may not react, she has shown progress. She is not even close to even being stable in this fight for her life, but there are signs of hope.

After the first round of chemo, Christie showed some great signs, but unfortunately, the methotrexate that was a part of the original regimen was not working and the tumors were growing and she was not responding to the treatment. So the oncology team has suggested new, more aggressive chemo, but the flooding of that much poison in her body will take its toll. Christie is back in ICU to work on a bacteria in her lungs and to get her heart rate lowered and stabilized.

To say she is not out of the woods is an understatement. She has just entered the woods. So while Steve, Audrey, and Jack have been going through the emotions of Christie's health problems, they now will face the mounting pressure of financial issues in Christie's present and future treatment. If you know Steve, he will never ask for help, but so many of us want to help. So if you would like to, this is your opportunity to help possibly ease some present and future issues for the family. Please follow "Christie's Fight Against Lymphoma" on Facebook for updates and feel free to share this with anyone. Prayers are most needed, but if you want to help financially, this is available. Thank you and God Bless and know you are so appreciated for being part of her support group and a valued member of “Team Christie!”
