Team Charm: help her escape financial abuser

Everyone that meets our mother, Charmaine, immediately comments on her large smile, kind heart, hard work ethic, and loving nature. She is a mother of four who has dedicated her life to her loved ones and always puts herself second.

Unfortunately, over the last three years, our mom has been forced to defend herself in an expensive legal battle against her abusive husband of 32 years, our father. His unjust pursuit against her has instigated a sudden and intense decline in her mental health, resulting in her inability to work.

We want to help our mom with legal fees to end this unfair battle, which is financially ruining her, so she can finally be free of her abuser and move on with her life.

Even during the best of times, our father was emotionally and financially abusive, and the marriage was toxic. 

As his health improved in 2018, he had an affair and left the family. He then proceeded to steal large amounts of money from the family bank account and is now seeking monthly spousal support and payment for credit card debt that he recklessly incurred.

Our mom is not seeking reimbursement for the funds stolen; she just wants this nightmare to end. She wants the divorce finalized and with as little cost for court and lawyers as possible.

$60,000 has already been spent on legal fees, which is beyond the remainder of our mom's life savings, and there is no end in sight. We believe that this legal pursuit is a financial control tactic and continuation of our father's abuse to keep our mom within his grasp and at his mercy. 

He has abused our family for far too long and it needs to end. Please help us raise money for legal fees so our mom can properly defend herself and be free of her abuser.
