TEAM CASHE BICYCLE RIDE

On October 17, 2005  SFC ALWYN C. CASHE selflessly performed an act of Valor and Heroism, it resulted in the sacrifice of his own life. SFC Cashe, covered in motor fuel, due to an IED explosion under the Bradley Fighting Vehicle he was in, returned to the vehicle, now burning, in a valiant attempt to save 6 of his Brothers In Arms trapped inside. In do so SFC Cashe himself, soaked in fuel, caught fire himself. Ignoring the flames and pain SFC Cashe continued in his attempt, opening the rear hatch and entering the vehicle 3 times, himself still on fire, to remove his Brothers. SFC Cashe joined the Army of God on November 8, 2005 having succumbed to the horrible burns covering 90% of his body. SFC Cashe's widow was awarded the Silver Star for Valor he was immediately honored with. SFC Alwyn C. Cashe is currently recommended for the Medal of Honor, our Nation's highest military honor. On September 8 I plan on embarking on a Bicycle Ride from SFC Cashe's resting place in Sanford, Florida to Fort Benning, Georgia, the home of the United States Infantry and the 1/15th Infantry Regiment in which SFC Cashe served. Funds raised will be used SOLELY to cover expenses, food and lodging during this Bicycle Ride to honor his Memory and his selfless Heroism.
