Team Carson Nancy

Hi, my name is Leah and I’m fundraising to assist with the medical expenses of sweet Carson Nancy. Carson is a 5-year-old girl who, like most 5-year-old girls, loves unicorns, rainbows and all things pink and fluffy. Being the awesome girl that she is, Carson also loves superheroes and had a combined unicorn/superhero-themed party for her fifth birthday!

I met Carson and her mom, Sarah, at a birthday party for another one of my daughter’s school friends at a trampoline park. I remember bonding with Sarah while our girls played together and got all of their energy out. We quickly became friends and we grew closer through playdates for the girls and coffee, donuts and mimosas for the moms!

On April 1st, Cameron (Carson’s dad) was loading her into the car seat to head to church when he noticed that Carson couldn’t buckle herself in, as she normally did. Later that night, Carson’s parents ran her through some tests they had come up with to assess her capabilities and discovered that she had lost strength in her right hand and that her right leg was not able to fully support her weight. They made an appointment with her pediatrician for the next morning who quickly referred them to the emergency room of the children’s hospital for an MRI. The MRI revealed a large brain tumor. Carson was admitted to the pediatric ICU at MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital in Charleston, SC, where she and her family began their journey, discovering that the large tumor was growing on Carson’s brain stem and was pushing a part of the brain that impacted the right side of the body.

On April 19th, Carson will be undergoing brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Surgery will be followed by an extended stay at the hospital, including pediatric inpatient rehab.

This is only the beginning of a long road ahead. Carson is full of life and we are confident she will overcome this obstacle in her young life. However, this will not be easy and despite having medical insurance and a great community of support, we are asking for donations to offset the cost of long hospital stays, travel to and from appointments, meals and childcare for Carson’s little sister, Sullivan.

Join us, as we pray for their family and complete healing.

Please consider donating, even $10 or $20 can go a long way to providing relief to Carson's family and allowing them to focus on her recovery.

UPDATE from Carson’s mom 4/19/23 post brain surgery:

“Our girl made it out of her long long long surgery. Didn’t get as much of tumor as he hoped but was able to get to it, which was not a guarantee so is good. Didn’t have to remove part of the brain this round (when we met this morning he thought he would need to) which is also good as it sets up better for future surgery if needed. Will know more in next couple days as pathology comes back then in 2-4 weeks once they have molecular testing results ❤️so much to be thankful for and praise Jesus for from today.”

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH for your generous donations. We’ve only been live for a couple of hours and have already raised a good amount of money! I’ve sent the invite to Sarah so she can be set up as the beneficiary. All proceeds from this fundraising will be going directly to Carson’s parents.

Please continue to pray for Carson and share this page to friends and family.
