Hello,

My name is Melanie Bridge and I am setting up this Go fund me page for my sister friend Carla (Lagore) Breitkreuz. Carla is one of those people that has spent her entire life taking care of everyone else, and now it is our turn to support her in the battle for her life.

In the last year, Carla has been diagnosed with Myelo Fibrosis and is in emergent need for a bone marrow transplant, which will be preceded by 8 days of aggressive chemotherapy. Without this surgery, Carla would likely contract a rare leukemia for which there is no treatment.

The last year has been a challenging one financially, as Carla’s employment hours were dramatically reduced. As a result, employment benefits are limited.

Carla is scheduled to head into VGH Monday, December 20th for an expected 5 week stay. Assuming Carla performs like the champ she is and does not develop infection, reduced liver and kidney function or more importantly does not acquire graft vs host disease, Carla will be released and required to maintain accommodation near VGH for another 3 to 5 months.

They say it takes a village, and we are going to be Carla’s village.

Please, if you are able, help us raise enough funds to maintain her home, take care of the bills that never go away, and feed and care for her beloved dog, Lucy.
