NST Cape Cod is a Neighborhood Support Team (NST) in Falmouth planning to sponsor the resettlement of Afghan evacuees in Falmouth. Our state is currently expecting about 850 refugees. Many will not have been able to complete their processing for SIV status (Special Immigrant Visa). This means they are not eligible for government assistance. Many have literally fled with little more than the clothes on their backs. They need our help. now!

 

NST Cape Cod is operating under the aegis of WelcomeMA.us, a consortium of Massachusetts nonprofits including Ascentria Care Alliance,* the Shapiro Foundation and other NGOs. Ascentria is the placement agency.

 

We have already been offered significant support, including free housing. for several months. However, we need to raise significant funds for food, clothing, transportation during their transition while they find jobs and become independent. Massachusetts will be receiving a growing number of evacuees in the next month; the first evacuees were already placed in Worcester area.

 

Cape Cod has always grown by welcoming immigrants: our economy & community strength have always benefited from the hard work of people who seek to build a new life in our beautiful land. Please help us welcome them!
