On Friday, March 13th, my 22-year-old niece, Cami Kristoff, was struck by a car while walking in a crosswalk on her way home from work in Chicago. She suffered multiple serious injuries, including a fractured pelvis in several places, two broken ribs, a broken nose, a fractured ankle, a concussion, and numerous cuts and bruises. She is currently in the ICU and has just undergone surgery, on St. Patrick's Day, to stabilize her pelvis. She now faces a long and difficult road to recovery, including the challenge of learning to walk again—a journey that will take many months.
Cami, a graduate of Kingwood High School (’21) and Oklahoma City University (’25), had just moved to Chicago two months ago to begin a job she was incredibly excited about and to start her life there. In an instant, this accident turned her life upside down, and she will need significant support in the months ahead as she begins to heal.
Her recovery will require ongoing medical care, mobility assistance, and a safe, accessible place to stay once she is discharged from the hospital. Her parents, who live in Houston, are working to figure out the best way to support her—whether that means staying in Chicago for an extended time or traveling back and forth. The situation is still fluid, and there will be additional housing and logistical needs as plans evolve.
We are creating this fund to support Cami and her family during this challenging time—helping cover medical expenses, travel, temporary accommodations, medical supplies, and any other needs that arise. The situation is still unfolding, and this support will provide them with the flexibility to focus fully on her recovery.
Every donation, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated and will make a meaningful difference. Your prayers, well-wishes, and support mean so much to Cami and her family as she begins this long journey toward healing.
Thank you for being part of Team Cami - we are so grateful for your support.
