Help Baby Callum Fight Hemitruncus – Support Torey, Matt & Big Brother Beau

Hi everyone,

My name is Ryan, and I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Torey, her husband Matt, and their family, who are facing the unimaginable.

Early Sunday morning, Torey and Matt welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Callum, into the world. Just days after his birth, they received devastating news: Callum was born with a rare and life-threatening congenital heart defect called Hemitruncus.

This condition causes one of the major arteries that carries blood from the heart to the lungs to develop abnormally. As a result, Callum’s heart is unable to effectively send oxygen-rich blood to his body and oxygen-poor blood to his lungs, which disrupts normal blood flow and oxygen delivery. Without treatment, this imbalance can strain his heart and lungs, making it difficult for his body to get the oxygen it needs to grow and function properly.

To give Callum the best chance at a healthy future, specialized surgery is required. This surgery is a critical step in correcting the abnormal blood flow and helping his heart work more efficiently. While the timing and exact details of the procedure are still being determined, the family knows that this intervention is essential to Callum’s care.

Callum is currently at Boston Children’s Hospital, one of the leading pediatric cardiac centers in the world. While we’re deeply grateful he’s receiving care from such an experienced team, his journey will be long and uncertain. The surgery and recovery process will require weeks in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, followed by many months—and likely years—of follow-up appointments and monitoring to support his heart and overall development.

In addition to the surgery, Callum will need ongoing specialized medical attention, including regular cardiac evaluations, medications, and supportive care to address any complications that may arise. The road ahead is long and challenging, and his family will be by his side through every step.

Torey and Matt are doing everything they can to stay strong for Callum and their 3-year-old son, Beau. Matt is a devoted town police officer, and although they have health insurance, it does not cover many of the out-of-pocket costs they now face—transportation to and from Boston, hotel stays near the hospital, meals, childcare for Beau, and income lost during extended time away from work.

Torey will not be working during this time, as her sole priority is the health and well-being of her children. She is fully focused on caring for Callum through his treatment and recovery, while also making sure Beau feels safe, supported, and loved during this sudden and overwhelming change in their family’s life.

In addition to these known costs, there are many ongoing and unexpected expenses that add up quickly during this long journey—parking fees, gas, medical supplies, prescription medications, therapies, household bills, mental health support, and special dietary needs are just a few examples of what this family may face in the weeks, months, and years ahead.

We’re asking for your support to help ease the financial strain so they can focus entirely on Callum’s care and being together as a family through this difficult time. Your donation—no matter the amount—will go directly toward:

  • Travel and lodging near the hospital

  • Daily expenses during Callum’s hospitalization

  • Childcare for Beau

  • Medical and recovery-related costs not covered by insurance

  • Additional unforeseen expenses that arise during this journey

If you’re able to give, we would be deeply grateful. And even if you can’t donate right now, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your network. Every share and every act of support makes a difference.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for keeping Torey, Matt, Callum, and Beau in your thoughts during this incredibly challenging time.

With much love and gratitude,
Ryan
