Team Caine - Getting Back in the Game

Being sick sucks! I think we can all agree on that. The emotional toll, physical limitations, and financial expenses are parts of a difficult journey for those facing illness. No matter how strong a person is, we must be strong enough to let others help when a health crisis strikes.

Minister Carlos Caine is diagnosed with end-stage renal disease. For those unfamiliar with this disease, it means you need forever-dialysis or a kidney transplant even to stay alive. See… told you it sucks! Minister Caine is currently doing dialysis multiple times a week, and has been for the past three years. I suppose he could continue to do this for the rest of his life, but it would be life-changing to find a living donor. The kidney search is underway. It turns out, kidneys are hard to find, and apparently, Amazon does not keep them in stock. Hard to believe but, it’s true.

The help that I’m asking for now is for someone who has spent most of his life helping others. Minister Caine is originally from the small of Alachua, Fl. In small towns, we learn the value of community at an early age and the honor of helping your neighbor. In this era of digital togetherness, I’m hoping to expand our small town values to reach as far the internet, and your good heart will travel.

We’re trying to get Minister Caine back to the pulpit, back to coaching pop-warner football, back to coaching little league baseball, and back to the type of life that most of us take for granted every day. Illness doesn’t just impact the individual who is managing it. It affects their family, friends, and communities who rely on them for help.

You may have complained about going to work today. Minister Caine would love to go back to work and provide for his family. You may have grumbled about having to travel for your kid’s sports or other events. Minister Caine would love to be in your shoes and take his kids on trips. Some of you may even complain about wearing a mask. Minister would probably praise God that masks are at the top of your worry list and not an acute disease.

Even if you are guilty of taking life for granted (I was), it’s never too late to change your perspective. And while Minister Caine is still fighting, it’s never too late to help. We need your help! You can make a difference! We can win!

1) Please donate. We’re raising money for transplant fees, medical bills, medications, living expenses, etc.  No amount is too small. All donations are significantly appreciated.

2) If you or someone you know would be interested in donating a kidney, please contact us. You must be O(+/-) to donate.

3) Please share this message with your social network. The interweb is vast, and the endless possibilities are in your hands.  It costs nothing to spread the word.
