More information about Candlelighters: At Candlelighters we support families facing children's cancer in Yorkshire, financially, emotionally and practically. We get involved in all sorts of projects to help ordinary families who are facing extraordinary circumstances. We fund & offer holidays, therapies, grants and roles for many people who make children's cancer treatment in Yorkshire amongst the best in the country. We are also proud to invest in a vital research programme into the causes of children's cancer and potential new treatments.

Christmas 2025

is almost here and Buttercup Lane are proud to support candlelighters . We will be creating & selling reindeer food & reindeer hot chocolates to raise money for our charity Candlelighters , supporting families with children cancer .

Candlelighters is a charity that supports families of children and young people diagnosed with cancer across Yorkshire, UK. Established over 45 years ago, the organization provides a wide range of support services from diagnosis onward, as well as investing in vital research.

Key services include:

Emotional Support: Offering talking therapies and support groups for patients, siblings, and parents.

Practical Support: Providing free accommodation near Leeds Children's Hospital for urgent travel, as well as amenities on the wards like arts and crafts and birthday boxes.

Financial Support: Offering grants to help ease the financial strain a diagnosis can place on a family.

Respite and Memory Making: Fully funded holidays and family events to provide a break from treatment and create happy memories.

Research: Investing in research to improve survival rates, treatments, and quality of life for young cancer patients.

The charity operates a family support centre called The Square in Leeds, a minute's walk from the children's hospital, where families can go for a break, chat with support workers, and meet others facing similar challenges. The charity relies on public donations and fundraising, receiving no government funding.

Candlelighters do an amazing job , we have supported this charity for some years now but this year it’s meant more to us as one of our Buttercups was diagnosed, which broke our hearts ,but Our little man is doing amazing he’s a fighter !

candle lighters go above and beyond to help families … and they certainly have supported my Buttercup family and their son Chester .

Even though Chester has been going through treatment ,every time I’ve been sent a photos from parents , he has got a huge smile on his face doing lots of activities thanks to candlelighters. Having fun and taking his mind of what he’s going through . Which really warms our heart .

The whole family have been in good hands .

So every penny raised by selling our Christmas reindeer bags will help families with children with cancer in Yorkshire.
