Hi, my name is Brandi, and this page shares an earlier part of my son Braedyn’s journey in gymnastics.
In October, Braedyn competed at the first Pan-American Open Gymnastics Championships for athletes with Down syndrome in Cancún — an international event bringing together athletes from across the Americas and beyond.
The most meaningful part wasn’t just the competition — it was being there.
Braedyn loved being part of something bigger and connecting with other athletes like him. It opened his eyes to a whole new world.
He rose to the challenge with focus, determination, and heart:
Silver – Pan-American Division
Bronze – International Division (5th overall worldwide)
A particularly meaningful moment also came through an unexpected act of kindness.
A fellow athlete from Colombia, supported by her team and country, presented Braedyn with a gold medal in recognition of his sportsmanship, kindness, and encouragement toward others.
It was a powerful reflection of who Braedyn is — not just as an athlete, but as a person.
Because of his performance and character, Braedyn has now been invited to represent Canada at the 2026 World Championships.
