In April of 2017 Beverly was diagnosed with stage 1 throat cancer and stage 4 lung cancer. Since, she has endured many hospital stays treatments and radiation. In October of 2018 she was diagnosed with stage 4 brain cancer while Megan was away at UNCC. In January Megan decided to withdraw from college and come home to take care of her mom. Then, in March of 2019 Beverly lost her husband Roger unexpectedly, and Megan lost her dad. Over the summer of 2019 Beverly was at duke hospital battling phenomena and was then transferred to Durham Regional to the specialty hospital then to Signature Healthcare of Chapel Hill to receive additional rehab in order to get stronger so she could go home. With Beverly's health declining, Megan has only been able to work part time at a preschool in Durham. She has been the only source of income. In November 2019 Beverly's doctors decided Home Hospice needed to be called, as they couldn't do much more for her. She has been admitted to a Hospice center as her health declines to hopefully get her back home and as comfortable as possible. With everything going on and Megan only being able to work a few days here and there, when she can, the bills are starting to add up. I am reaching out to ask for help, as I know Megan would never do so on her own. She has expressed to me that necessities such as house payment, phone bill, power bill, water bills, and a majority of everyday bills are fallen behind. As well as hospital bills, food money, student loans, and a broken washing machine resulting in her having to use a laundry mat. Megan has put her life on pause to be there for her mom - her schooling, work, and just the ability to live a normal 24 year old's life.
