Team Bea

This is Bea,  Bea is a beautiful, happy and intelligent little girl who loves singing, dancing and playing with her friends.

Bea was born with Neo-natal Marfan Syndrome.  As with a lot of disabilities there is a spectrum. In 2020, most people with the condition will have a life expectancy of 70+. Medicine is improving all the time and surgeons are getting cleverer. Unfortunately for Bea she is at the most severe end of the spectrum and so the outlook is not so positive. When she was diagnosed her family were told there were only 89 cases of this severity worldwide.

Bea has spent 6 years fighting and defying the odds. In September 2019 Bea started at Sherington CE First School, despite her parents (Jenny & Alex) being told it was very unlikely this would ever happen. She is now thriving in Year 1  and loved by everyone there.

Just as Bea had worked up to attending school full time Covid hit and stopped her in her tracks. During this time we set up this Go Fund Me page to raise money for a new Power Chair for her so that she can race around with her friends at playtime and be as independent as possible in the classroom and whilst out and about.

Thanks to all of your generosity and a donation from the local authority Bea now speeds around in 'Sonny' and is thankfully back in school!!

Bea has grown in strength and determination and we are now raising money for a walking frame and an off road wheelchair so that she can enjoy forest school with her friends!

Bea's needs are always changing and as she grows she will need more and more specialist equipment so our fundraising for Bea and her parents, Jenny and Alex is ongoing.
