Team Banks Takes on Cancer

We are a group of family, friends, and coworkers who are rallying around the amazing Charles and Dana Banks.

Dana has shared that her husband, Charles, started experiencing major health issues in July, 2022. His diagnosis has now been confirmed and Charles has esophageal cancer. This news is devastating and Dana and Charles are still trying to process. They are asking for privacy from the sharing of any further details other than what is being shared here, for the sake of their children and to help protect their healing energy.

Charles has experienced multiple health issues due to the cancer, but specifically severe vision impairment has rendered him unable to work at this time. He has no disability insurance coverage because his employer does not offer short or long term disability insurance to purchase or as a benefit. This fact was not discovered until this health scare. This significant decrease in income is devastating to their household. Charles has always been a working man but we are asking for assistance in raising funds to help replace his income, as the family works to get Charles better and as he takes the necessary time and therapy to heal.

For those that do not know them well, let us tell you a little about this wonderful family: Charles and Dana were high school sweethearts and have been married for 25 years – a milestone that was celebrated on July 24th of this year. Charles graduated with honors in Gerontology from the University of Michigan School of Social Work (#GOBLUE). He currently works at the Veterans Administration in Ann Arbor. He is a licensed master’s level social worker and Certified Substance Abuse Therapist. At this time, Charles is a second-year student in the Doctoral program at the University of Alabama (#ROLLTIDE) where he was slated to teach undergraduate courses in September prior to his diagnosis. Dana works for Henry Ford Health in the #1 Global School-Based Health Program.

Charles and Dana have 4 beautiful daughters, Camryn – also a U of M Grad (#GOBLUE) and living in NYC. Alanah and Olivia who are going to be entering college, and Troy who is in middle school in Ann Arbor.

Charles and Dana are faith-filled and will continue to battle against this sickness. We greatly appreciate any monetary amount, all prayers, and positive healing vibrations that you can send their way!
