Our dear friend, Jessica Smith Ashby, has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. Jessie is a wonderful mother of four young children, a fantastic nurse, and an extraordinary friend to everyone she comes in contact with.
Breast cancer is not just about pink ribbons, and 5K’s, and “you got this girl”. It is a scourge and demon that steals your health, your peace of mind, your time, and possibly, your future. Jessie is 31 years old and she is about to climb the toughest mountain there is for a young wife and mother. There will not only be medical issues to face this coming year, but financial ones as well. Statistically, patients under the age of 65 are up to 5x more likely to go bankrupt as a result of breast cancer treatment.
Our girl is facing many long months of therapy including surgeries and chemo. Jessie’s ability to work and earn money for her family will definitely be compromised. There will be costs that insurance will not cover, such as transportation to and from doctors, child care, groceries, etc. The Ashby’s will definitely need your good wishes, thoughts, and prayers, but will also need money to make sure that day-to-day expenses are met.
Note the drawing below. Each month of 2020 is separated into corresponding days. Jessie and her family will be in the grip of breast cancer each and every day that you see. On those days that you are carrying on with your regular activities, remember that she will be dealing with the same…..as well as adding cancer to the mix.
Please help us meet our goal so that we can ease the financial burden that this young, beautiful family will soon be confronting.
Team Ashby will remain strong and optimistic as we walk along side our precious friend. We look forward to your support.
