My name is Carmen and it breaks my heart that my son Angel is fighting cancer – for the third time.

When Angel was 7 years old he was diagnosed with leukemia. Treatment lasted 2 years with multiple hospital admits for chemo and infections,doctors appointments, blood draws, etc. This sweet, shy little boy was so brave at 7 years old handling all of what was happening to him.14 months after his diagnosis , Angel relapsed. He had leukemia again! This relapse was devastating to our family. No child should get cancer once, let alone twice. Treatment was started again but this time it was more aggressive. Another 2 years of hospital admits, chemo, blood draws, doctor appointments. Since the treatments ended, We have held our breath at every check up hoping and praying that the cancer remained gone.Last year Angel celebrated 12 years in remission,He is now 21 years old and we felt safe.

About a month and an half ago,Angel wasn’t feeling well so I took him in to urgent care to get checked out. He was throwing up, had bad headaches and his left eye was blurry. The doctor thought it was a sinus infection and migraines. We made an appointment for a CT scan of his brain. It showed a mass on the left side,they weren’t sure what it was. They referred us to a specialist and also wanted an MRI done. The MRI showed a 5.2cm tumor. Our world was shaken not knowing what it was. We scheduled surgery to remove the tumor. They were unable to get the entire tumor. He has been diagnosed with a grade 4 aggressive brain tumor. Now Angel is battling cancer for the third time.

His treatment consists of 6 weeks of daily radiation treatments, along with chemo, doctors appointments, etc. As you can imagine the normal costs of everyday living such as mortgage, food, gas costs can be staggering. This will enable us to focus on Angel getting well and fighting this horrible disease called cancer.
