Hi! I'm Marta. This is my friend Nikhita and her husband Akshay. I met Nikhita over a year ago and she became family.
Akshay and Nikhita have a beautiful storybook love story....They met, fell in love, got engaged in 2018 and had a dream wedding the following year
In 2021, 2 short years after they were married, Akshay was diagnosed with Ewings Sacroma, a rare form of cancer. He underwent chemotherapy and radiation and went into full remission in the summer of 2022.
Things were looking up, then in December of 2022, Nikhita was diagnosed with MS and she started her own treatments while continuing to pursue her MBA at NYU Stern and choosing to continue running. Akshay was there to support her 110%.
Unfortunately, early this year, Akshay was diagnosed with treatment-induced Leukemia and started treatment with the goal of a Bone Marrow transplant. It hasn't been an easy journey to watch, I can not imagine what it is like being in their shoes. Frankly, no one should have to.
Today, Sept 14th. 2023 is the day Akshay gets admitted for his transplant, while the conditions are not ideal, everyone is hopeful he will do well.
These two young people have dealt with more than anyone should bear and they continue to smile between the tears. They continue to love each other #hereandnow, through better or worse. I am asking for your financial help to support expenses that are not covered by insurance such as travel, and assistance at home post-transplant and during transplant as Nikhita has to return to work, coordinate her own treatment for the MS, and is still chipping away at her MBA and plans to run the NYC Marathon this November
Any amount will help. All the proceeds will go to alleviate some of the the financial burden as the universe continues to not make sense.
