Team 1 North Patrol's climb for Aubrey

On Wednesday 10th April the Officers of Team 1 North Patrol are taking on Snowdon- all for a good cause!

At the end of September 2023 a good friend and colleague on the team, PC Laura Peck, left work on maternity leave for what should have been the most exciting time welcoming their third baby into the world together.

Unfortunately this beautiful family would suffer the worst heartache instead when their then 2 year old daughter Aubrey was diagnosed with Brain Stem Glioma (DIPG).

As Laura and her husband Andrew welcomed baby Hudson into the world joining his sister and big Brother Elijah, Aubrey was admitted to Addenbrooks where she faced 13 rounds of radiotherapy under general anesthetic and a brain biopsy in the first month alone.

Despite the terrible side effects of her diagnosis and treatment to date, Aubrey has continued to amaze her Doctors, friends and family with her sheer strength, determination and infectious smile!

She really is an amazing and inspiring little girl, and the most caring sister to her Brothers.

Now to the part where Laura's colleagues come into this.....

Whilst they are an ambitious bunch and full of enthusiasm, the mere mention of 'footbeat' by the Sergeants is usually met with raised eyebrows, a look of disgust and various attempts to avoid eye contact for fear of being picked- so we thought a stroll up a Welsh mountain would be an ideal challenge to take on in the hopes of raising some funds to pass on!

Aubrey's treatments take her back and forth to Hospital regularly and often for overnight stays- but this unfortunately comes with the added costs of travelling, parking and accommodation for the family whilst they are away from home. In addition to this, although fantastic, the NHS don't cover the costs of all the treatment options that may be available to her.

On behalf of their family we would like to help raise as much money as we possibly can to donate towards easing the financial pressures they currently face and to contribute towards activities they can enjoy, allowing them to focus their time and energy on precious time together.
