Hello, we are Cody and Brandi. Proud parents of Teagan Sue Craig. Teagan was born on June 21, 2022 at 5:42 p.m. she was prenatally diagnosed with CHD. We were told she would need three surgeries ( as soon as she was born, 6-9 months, and 3-5 years old ) and possibly a complete heart transplant. Once she was here and the doctors were able to do more thorough exams on her we got the full picture of what we were dealing with. She is a very complex case to say the least. Her diagnosis are as follows: double aortic arch, double outlet right ventricle, dextro transposition of great arteries, atrial ventricle septal defect, total anomalies pulmonary venous return and heterotaxy. Her first open heart surgery was just three days after she was born. The surgeons corrected her double aortic arch and total anomalous pulmonary vein draining to the left superior vena cava to venas cava system. After this surgery, Teagan's lung collapsed which prompted another surgical procedure to help inflate the lung. We stayed at children's hospital from June 21, 2022 through August 3rd, 2022. We then continued on to the children's home of Pittsburgh where we were taught the medical side of taking care of our baby. We stayed there until September 2nd. Teagan had to come back to children's hospital for a g tube placement, as many cardiac kids have trouble with feedings. We were finally able to bring our sweet little princess home on September 19th 2022. She loved being home. We loved having her home. We followed up frequently with children's hospital outpatient cardiac department. In our heads we were preparing ourselves for Teagan's second open heart surgery; the Glenn procedure. On November 3rd we were admitted to children's hospital again. But it wasn't for her Glenn procedure. Teagan's AV valve was regurgitating fluid excessively. She had gone into severe heart failure. Her surgeons needed to intervene. On November 16th she went in for her AV valve repair. The very next day, they tried to take her off the ventilator but was unsuccessful. They had found that the repair was unsuccessful. After several conferences and echos and x rays, the cardiac team decided to try and perform the repair again. On November 22, 2022 the surgeons attempted repair twice, it just wouldn't hold. They had to place a mechanical valve. On November 23, 2022 they placed a pacemaker and closed Teagan up. They again tried to take her off the ventilator and was unsuccessful. Teagan had an infection in her lungs from her breathing tube. After antibiotics and steroids to help clear everything up, she was taken off the ventilator on December 6, 2022. She is doing great so far. We are praying for her body to heal quickly as the cardiac team will reevaluate her for her Glenn procedure when she is eight months old. This little girl has endured so much through her five months of life and yet she is still such a pleasant baby. I haven't worked since May of 2022. I am very blessed to have been able to be by Teagan's side this entire journey. We are so thankful that Cody works full time but it's hard to go from a two person income to one with additional expenses. We hope to ease our financial stress so we can focus more on Teagan and her well being. This fundraiser is to help us with bills, food, gas, parking and medical bills that insurance wouldn't cover. Any donation is appreciated. Any help in sharing this fundraiser is also appreciated. Thank you for your love and support! We greatly appreciate it from the bottom of our hearts.
