Teacher Coach JJ James Fortune

Hello folks. My name is Lisa. I am setting up this gofundme to help my neighbor JJ get back on his feet. On September 12 2023 while JJ was at work teaching at Robertsdale Al High School, his home in the Fish Trap neighborhood of Elberta, Al caught on fire. His rented home was totally destroyed. The devasting part is that his best friend Pirogue (pictured above with JJ) did not survive the blaze. As you may well imagine he is devasted by the loss of his beloved dog whom he rescued after being dumped in the Fish Trap neighborhood as a pup 3 years ago and had accompanied JJ everywhere since. whether it be fishing, kayaking, biking, running and even to "help" decorate for Robertsdale High School prom. Among other things, JJ teaches Environmental Science and supports the STEM and althletic programs at Robertsdale Alabama High School. He is dedicated to his students and takes a personal interest in each one of them. He has helped his students compete for and win precious grant money with special projects to further the STEM program while also supporting our beautiful South Baldwin County waterways, particularly Hammock Bay & Wolf Bay areas. He has supported efforts with the Gulf Coast Zoo, The Mobile Baykeeper and the Weeks Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. He is an avid animal lover, fisherman, kayaker and cyclist who is left with only the clothes he wore to school that day. Along with the outpouring of support from the community he desperately needs help starting over. Thank you all in advance for your prayers, your support and your generousity.
