Kidney and Pancreas Transplant

Stephan is 36 years old and has suffered from Type 1 Diabetes since he was 14. As a result of this he has dealt with multiple chronic illnesses since then, He was diagnosed with Gastroparesis after years of pain and no help in 2004. Gastroparesis causes issues with digestion of food which further complicates diabetes because it makes it difficult to eat properly. Complications from diabetes has led to a stroke in  January 2017 and a heart attack in September 2018.

In 2013 Stephan had a Gastric Pacemaker installed to try and help with his gastroparesis, this machine sends shocks to his intestines to help move food through the digestion process. In 2017 Stephan was diagnosed with End Stage Renal Disease, and began Dialysis August of that year. Since beginning dialysis, Stephan started experiencing Orthostatic Hypertension, which means his Blood pressures would rise as he laid down, sat down or slept and they would plummet as he stood up, and including during his dialysis treatments. This condition led to his heart attack in 2018

Due to his stroke Stephan has right-side weakness and pain, he is unable to see from his right eye and this has prevented him from working since the stroke in 2017.

Stephan is currently on the Kidney Pancreas transplant list in Peoria Illinois and is working to get on the list in Houston, Texas.

Since moving to Houston, which is one of the top areas for these transplants, Stephan has been unable to access proper care due to inadequate insurance coverage. In Texas, he does not qualify for coverage to help with doctor visits, testing, even test strips for his blood sugar machine.

The biggest expense that is not covered in the transplant. Without this transplant Stephan will remain on dialysis, which is also not fully covered, and his health will continue to deteriorate.

His gastroparesis continues to complicate his diabetes. He has had multiple deadly low blood sugars and dangerous highs. Normally a person could try and handle this with diet, unfortunately that isn't' possible for him, due to the gastroparesis. Every day that his diabetes is unpredictable, more and more nerves are damaged which will only cause more organs to deteriorate, and Stephan to get even worse.

Stephan has worked hard for everything he has had in his life and isn't the type of man who generally like asking for help, but he and his family realize that he needs help. Help for medical, and living expenses. Help so that he can provide more security for his family and continue to fight for his life. Even if he has this transplant, Stephan will be in recovery for weeks before he is able attempt to work again.

Stephan feels called to share God's word both now in sickness and prayerfully in health in the future. He would like to run youth programs discipling young men to go on to disciple other people and continue to grow God's kingdom.

We, Stephan's family, are humbled and deeply grateful for each one of you who feels it in their hearts to donate to this cause. Your gifts are tax-deductible and will go a long way to help in alleviating the pressure of medical and every day expenses. Thank you!

Please continue to pray for Stephan as well as every medical professional he comes in contact with.
