My name is Kellie Walz and I am the sister-in-law of Ainslee McDowell who has reluctantly given me permission to set up this GoFundMe page to support herself, Gary & Kobe during this very difficult time.

On Friday 19th September, whilst working on the roof framing of a new extension to their home, Gary fell from scaffolding landing on the concrete below, with his head taking the impact. After being revived, Gary was transported to Royal Perth Hospital where he was placed in an induced coma for several days and was operated on late Friday night. He has a fractured skull, ribs, and a T6 fracture in his spine. Further injuries are unknown until he becomes more conscious and can be assessed again.

As I write, he is currently out of ICU, however is not knowing who he is. It is clear that his road to recovery is going to be a long journey.

So many of you have already reached out to find out ways you can help, and Ainslee and the family are so thankful. Moving forward, the reality is that Ainslee and Gary will be without an income for the near future, the medical bills will begin to come in and they have a section of their house that is exposed to the elements; it urgently needs finishing. Given they were saving so much money with Gary’s amazing building skills, they now need to pay someone to finish the job.
