Hi my name is Amanda, I am starting this gofundme on behalf of my family for our dad, Ken Wood.

In June of 2023 my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer. It didn’t take long for him to become weak and unable to work. He is very fatigued and has a hard time eating, he needs to buy boost or ensure for nutrition and calories. My dad worked passionately at NAPA for 16 years, until he had to take disability for his cancer diagnosis.

In September 2023 doctors got ahold of him after MONTHS of SILENCE. His cancer had grown and became INOPERABLE!! The doctors were then quick (after the fact) to start chemotherapy to hopefully shrink the tumor. After 4 months and many weeks of chemotherapy, scans came back, the CANCER HAD SHRUNK!!! Doctors immediately developed a plan and my dad started radiation therapy a week ago (feb.26).

Even with the wonderful news he has been given, his fight is far from over. My dad is scheduled for 50 radiation therapy treatments. With that comes the struggle of getting to the appointments. He has to drive an hour every day to get to his 15 minute appointments and then drives another hour home. The cost of gas is atrocious and with parking fees added it’s has made it difficult for my Dad to buy everyday items.

Our family is doing the best we can to support our dad through this time, although distance and schedules often cause conflict. We are hopeful for any donations or time so that our dad can focus on this journey ahead of him with some financial relief.
