Hello. I am starting a fundraiser for my family. I live in New York but my brother and father live in Florida on a property with two of my cousins. Just yesterday afternoon a massive storm rolled in. My brother just shortly before tragedy struck left to go get food. Last minute he looked down at his dog kona and decided she should get to go on a car ride. My brother lived in a furnished area in a back building behind the main house. While away, my father who was inside the house at the time noticed sparks shooting across the yard and ran out to find my brothers cottage on fire. Lightening had struck the building. He rushed over to try to save the dog who he believed was still inside. He was unable to grab anything from my brothers cottage and was forced to retreat due to the overwhelming heat and smoke with the hope that Kona was not inside and was with my brother. He called 911 for the fire department but unfortunately they would be delayed and he’d be left to fight the fire alone. He quickly moved their boats and trucks away from the building and grabbed a hose. Even with the pouring rain, hose, and eventually fire fighters the flames couldn’t be beat. The building is no longer standing and anything that was inside was destroyed. My brother lost all of his belongings including irreplaceable photos of passed family and friends. All he has left is what was in his vehicle or on his body. My brother, father, and cousins lost everything in storage as well including their washer and dryer.
