A new beginning for Christian

Several years ago my little brother got some news that would completely turn his world upside down. After several years of stomach pains that he couldn't explain, he was diagnosed with severe Crohn's disease. He went from his normal life with his wife and kids, working a good job at the power plant, to surgery to remove a large part of his intestines, having to quit his job due to his constant doctor's appointments and emergency room visits, selling his recently purchased first home, forfeiting his first new vehicle he ever purchased and unable to hold a job. Him, his wife and kids were lucky to have family to give them a place to stay and support.

After years of traditional treatment, experimental treatment, taking part in clinical trials and everything else he could think of to try to get some sense of normalcy and attempting to get back into the workforce many times without success, he had an idea. My brother loves nature. He practically lived in the woods as a kid, constantly exploring the woods for hours on end. He loves plants and he loves trying to grow things. When he owned his home, he was constantly planting new flowers, shrubs, trees, you name it. His idea: he could buy a small plot of land and start a business to grow and sell plants. So, he purchased a small plot of land to take the first step towards his dream.

Recently, at a doctor's visit, he was telling his doctor of his plans to try and start his own business. His doctor suggested crowdfunding as a way to raise funds and get his business off the ground. Now anyone who knows my brother knows how prideful he is. Through all these years of struggle I can't think of a single time he asked for help. That's not to say he didn't get support and help but he certainly wasn't looking for sympathy or asking for it. I was really caught off guard when he texted me asking for my help. In his typical prideful way he said "I completely understand if you wouldn't want to do this, and I can do this on my own with some time, but my doctor suggested...... I've never used social media and I don't know the first thing about crowdfunding. Do you think you could help me?"

So here we are today, with the launch of this GoFundMe. I'm hoping with the support of family, friends, and some random caring people, we can make his life a little more normal again. Every bit of the money raised will go towards his business. He needs permits to clear land, permits for the business, supplies etc. Every person and every little bit counts. If you can't financially afford to donate, giving your time is just as valuable. A simple share on your social media or with friends can go a long way. Help me help someone who always gives to others and never asks anything in return.

Thank you.
