This is an appeal to the friends, students and everyone who has been touched by the Filipino Martial Art of Balintawak in general and Grand Master Monie Velez in particular.
GM Monie was hospitalized on January 8th for breathing difficulties. He had a low red blood count and required three packs of blood transfusion. It was also determined that he will need ongoing dialysis.
I am coordinating the raising of funds for his hospital bills ($3,000) and continuing dialysis and other medical costs. GM Monie has no medical or health insurance. It would be a great help if in addition to a one time gift, that we can receive a regular monthly commitment for the monthly medical expenses. Any amount will do, for example, five or ten dollars a month would go a long way if many sign-up. Please inform me of the amount being pledged so that we can plan accordingly.
