Hello,

I am raising funds to help my friend, Laura Weiskopf,  with vet expenses for Jasper, her adorable cat. Jasper was recently attacked by what we think was a fisher cat. Fortunately, he escaped with his life, but his injuries were severe. As you can see he had to have his leg amputated. The veterinarians did a beautiful job but their services are expensive. The surgery and other vet expenses currently add up to $7000.00.  Laura is in need of financial help to cover these expenses. Many of her friends have asked how they can help so I started this Go Fund Me page to make it a little easier.  She is hesitant to ask for help but the need is there. Laura helps so many people in so many ways, I want her to know that we are all there for her too.  Please give what you can to help her out. Thank You!

Jasper's harrowing story as written by the family:

Hi my name is Jasper I am a rescue cat from Roar of Ridgefield, Connecticut. My family rescued me when I was about one year old and I have lived a healthy and happy life until about three weeks ago. I decided to go outside and hide under the deck where my mom could not reach me. I believe a fisher cat attacked me and I was so scared and hurt. My mom brought me to the doctors office a day later and started me on antibiotics. Unfortunately, I had an infection in my bone and my foot atrophied and they had to amputate my leg. The veterinarian at Ridgefield animal hospital, Dr. Heidinger, said I was the best cat he’s ever seen. I was well behaved and purred all the time because I knew they would make me feel better. They sent me to a nice place called Guardian in Brewster, NY, for another doctor's opinion. Unfortunately they said the best thing to do with this infection is to amputate from the hip down. My mom was crying and I knew that she did not have the money for my needs, but when faced with the options of surgery or euthanasia, she decided that she loved me too much to let me go. This is why I am asking for help for my mom to cover my medical bills. I am still a very healthy cat and I am getting along just fine on my three legs. I even have a three-legged sister that my mom also adopted after she was abandoned due to her deformity. My mom has a soft spot for cats and is the best owner ever. I know I am in loving hands.
