Please help John Isola: medical bills and expenses

Donation protected
Hello, my name is John/Jack Isola. I’m writing because I need some help as I recover from a burn accident.

On March 17, I had a day off and was resting with a space heater on at the end of my recliner. Unfortunately, I had it too close and as I slept, my feet moved closer to it and I eventually had one of them resting right on it. I didn’t feel pain then due to my diabetic neuropathy. When I woke up, my left toes were covered in large blisters, top and bottom and I had one on a toe on my right foot as well. At the ER, they bandaged me up but sent me to the James M Still Burn Center in Atlanta. I live in Chattanooga, so that’s a two-hour drive one way. It turned out I had second and third-degree burns (to the bone) and needed skin graft surgery. Funny how you don't think about your feet that much until they're singing pain at you and you can't walk/easily make it to the bathroom etc so your skin grafts don't shift around.

Money was tight before our move to Chattanooga due to my other medical issues that were discovered during the pandemic (blocked arteries and CHF) - but this was the beginning of a swift downward spiral. I have not been able to work since the burn. Care involves appointments once and sometimes twice a week. To take me, my wife had to miss a day of work (and pay) each time. Then her temp job ended and she’s been looking for a new position since May 15. We’ve had to put groceries and rent on credit cards (now maxed out) and our savings are gone. We have insurance but need to make the deductible payments and premiums, and my normal medications are over $200 per month.

My injuries are improving, and I am so fortunate, especially as a diabetic, to not have lost more than the tip of my left big toe. I’m hoping for help to raise enough money to pay for our rent, the deductible, groceries, utilities and other expenses so I can literally get back on my feet as soon as possible. Any help you can give would be greatly and humbly appreciated.

Below I'm posting some pics of the injuries for those interested. Some are a bit gruesome. I would like to thank everyone  for their support

This was the pic I sent my wife when I woke to find my foot like this. She thought I was kidding because she couldn't recognize my toes.

After debridement at James M Still Burn Center - this is the pretty side.

The wonderful staff at JMS decided at this point that I needed surgery to determine if I had 3rd degree burns.

I underwent the surgery and donor skin grafts were applied.
One week later they looked like this:

This is the second donor graft. We are so grateful to have received such an incredible gift from the donor and their family, and for the doctor's and nurses' skill and care.

And this is the third graft, with skin from my left thigh.

The worst pain of the whole event so far.

The tubing was for a silver nitrate solution to bathe the wounds. The first grafts completed their mission, providing a good base for these grafts to adhere to.
