Help a Friend in Need Buy a Car!

Hey friends! As some of you may know, Kyle Trombly is a friend of many and a stranger to few. My name is Lydia Peters, and Kyle and I have been best friends since 1st grade. He's such a kind, caring, selfless person. He's the kind of friend that will check in on you to see how you're doing, and go out of his way to help others - whether they be a friend, acquaintance or someone he doesn't know. Now it's our turn to give back to Kyle.

With our second heavy rainfall in two days in St. Louis, Kyle found himself in an unexpected predicament. Just two days prior, we had record-setting rainfall with flash-flood warnings (St. Louis City saw approx. 11 inches that day). On July 28th, Kyle was on his way home from the Fitz's warehouse where he had been helping to clean up prior damage from the flooding on the 26th. It had started to rain about an hour before he left, and just like two days earlier, the rain pelted in a short amount of time, and again there were flash flood warnings. As he was driving on Skinker Blvd., he came upon what he thought was shallow water under a bridge. As he proceeded, he quickly learned that the water was deeper than he had thought and his car began to rise. Kyle knew that he needed to get out of the car immediately. He was able to wade to safety and waited until he was found and picked up by a Police Officer. He then took Kyle to the Station, where he could wait for his Mom to pick him up.

During the entire time from entering the water, to knowing he had to leave his car, to awaiting help, and then awaiting his Mom, Kyle remained calm and had faith that the Lord would bring him through this. He was just so grateful he was ok, and knew that a car could be replaced, but he could not be.

Kyle will be starting his sophomore year at Missouri State in a few weeks. As with many college students, it's necessary for Kyle to pay for his own college (the son of a single Mom). He is having to work two jobs throughout the school year with his full load of classes, and works in the summer as well. This summer, Kyle spent a month in Panama City Beach, FL where he was an intern at BigStuf, a church-affiliated camp. While he thoroughly enjoyed serving the Lord, he knew he would need to return home and work extra hours in order to make up for the time he wasn't able to work during his stint serving.

This page was created for Kyle, and without his knowledge. The hope is that we can raise enough money for him to be able to have a sizeable down payment for a car, so that he will have a manageable car payment each month.

Thank you so much in advance for reading Kyle's trial. He is such an inspiration to many, as he is remaining positive and faithful. It will be so much fun to be able to surprise Kyle and show him just how loved he is by all of his friends (and maybe even some strangers), when we present him with a check to put toward a car that will allow him to drive to work and college.
