Ace's Vet Bills
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
This GoFundMe is to help pay for the medical bills for our little puppy, Ace. Here's our story...
This quarantine and whole situation has been really tough on all of us. Especially on my 12 year-old son, who needed something to brighten up his days. I decided that a puppy would add joy to his life, and we'd have time to train it since we're at home. On April 1st, we went to Family Dog Rescue, and fell in love with our little Ace. My son and Ace had an instant connection and we brought him home that night. Ace and our older dog, Suzie, also started getting along great. They played together, and Ace would follow Suzie around the apartment.
On Saturday, April 4th, Ace started coughing a little. This was the start of a rapid decline in health. We brought him to our regular vet on Monday, April 6th, where he was diagnosed with Pneumonia. They kept him all day to give IV fluids, nebulizers and antibiotics. That night he was still quite unwell, so they advised me to bring to an overnight hospital. I picked our little guy up from our vet and immediately broke down in tears. He could barely even hold his head up. I rushed him to Blue Pearl Emergency Pet Hospital.
They were great! They took him in and started treating him for the pneumonia right away. They did other tests and found out that he was actually Parvo positive. This was devastating to hear. They put him in isolation and kept treating him for his symptoms. After one day and night, he seemed to be getting better. We were able to bring him home!
He spent one happy day playing with Suzie and cuddling my son! It was so great to have him back. Unfortunately, this was short lived. Ace started to get sick again. He was refusing to eat, wheezing and coughing. Once he started shivering uncontrollably in a ball on the couch, we knew he had to go back to the hospital. I brought him there yesterday (April 10) for the second time, and he is being treated there now. Unfortunately, our other dog also became sick with a bad cough and also needed xrays and antibiotics.
This situation has rocked our family. Something that was supposed to bring joy and purpose in these scary times, has increased all our stress and worry. I emailed Family Dog Rescue to ask for guidance in this terrible situation. They responded with no help to offer. I later emailed them to ask for financial help, since this puppy was clearly sick when they gave him to us, but they did not respond.
The medical bills have been adding up, and we've only had him for 10 days. I am lucky to still have a job right now, but unfortunately being a teacher does not pay very much. Our family would be so grateful to any help you can give. Please don't feel the need to donate if you can't, these are tough times for everyone. If you can maybe share our story with others. Thank you so much for reading our story.
