TCS Studio in Uptown MPLS
Donation protected
Twin Cities Skaters and supporters, we have some great news!
We are about to make the biggest move we have made as an organization (LLC), and that's to have a studio in Uptown! This place we will offer memberships for people to have access to rollerskate practice time as they wish, scheduled events and classes for lessons and fitness. We will also host public sessions regularly. Want to be apart of our success and aid this mission? Here is your chance.
If you are not aware of who we are, what we do, and our story. If you ARE aware, just skip down to the part to see how you can help and invest in us. Let's note that this donation is not required or expected at all, but every ounce counts.
Twin Cities Skaters is a grassroots roller skating organization that offers events, lessons, rentals, performances and soon maintenance repairs and roller fitness workouts.
TCS started organically as a meetup group during the lockdowns in Richfield Taft Park. This idea was pitched late summer of 2020; People really wanted to skate. The rollerskates started being collected in 2018/2019, so they were an amenity to bring to our skate parties to invite others to join along side the DJ equipment and the jams. We got an encore and did a few more before it got to cold outside. St. Paul got wind of this, and hired us for our first official gig working with a non profit event at a park. This is when things were showing to be something more than just a meet up.
The next phase was made when we started doing more skate gigs around town, and people started asking if we did lessons, and performances. Naturally, this becomes the next additional wings of our up coming business. Growth stage was still blooming, but then the Rollergarden closed in May 2021.
TCS had interest in collecting a lot of rental skates from the auction, but did not get any, initially. Many of them were magically bought up seemingly to go to invisible hands no one knew out of the blue. The great news is, eventually a lot of them rental skates found their way back to this organization through donations. We had a small crowd fund 2 years ago to help build the 8 foot shed for our new influx of rental skates, and LLC start up costs.
Here we are on year 4, and people are still finding out that this is a service. We did over 100 events last year and showing no signs of slowing down. With the addition of having a centralized location, we can offer consistent lessons, sessions, roller Fitness, yoga, brand merch, and maintenance clinics. We have upgraded work trucks and trailers and sheds in the last 2 years, the business is still growing each year! But as we still outgrow all these things and buy more skates, having the studio space will also ground us in a neighborhood that would love to see us grow within the community.
Not far from our late Rollergarden, this location is a BEAUTIFUL store front space that we will be able to call out skate home. Uptown back in it's prime was super popular , but since the pandemic the scene has dissolved. We are apart of a reimagining of bringing back vibrancy to the community, and while also offering our services on a more consistent bases. The support will be lovely from locals and all sorts of skaters in the metro. Join us as we uplift the city of Minneapolis!
How you can help: This donation is set up just for anybody asking, willing, able to help financially to help us with start up costs, and possibly avoid the banks. Your money will go to a various different things: We will need signage, cleaning materials, paint, artists we will hire for local work, systems for members of the studio, etc. Venmo is also an option: @twin cities skaters
Become a member of the club. I will finalize details, it will be a monthly price with club percs and classes built in for members.
In the future, we may have more creative fundraiser ideas once we are in the space. If you would like something in return, please let me know. I would be more than happy to offer to host a private skate party or lessons of equal value for someone who gives a large donation. It is possible I will be able to gift smaller donors with parking passes, and mid donors classes.
This studio will have the ability to do what we do plus more as we expand our mission to make America Skate again! Thank you!
