In Memory of Tharshika Jeganathan

Tharshika Jeganathan was a beautiful soul, full of energy and passion. Tharshika's smile filled the room and she was loved by her family and friends.
Tharshika migrated to Canada from Sri Lanka to what she believed would be a loving relationship with her husband. However, soon after her arrival, she was repeatedly abused by him. Several incidents of unreported domestic violence eventually led to the arrest of her husband, Sasiharan Thanapalasingam.
Tharshika had no other family here but she was determined to move on from her past and to build a new life for herself in Canada. She stayed at a shelter immediately after the incident, and later found a new place to live, and a job to sustain her life in Canada and to provide for her family back home in Sri Lanka.
Tharshika was a strong, dedicated woman that did everything she could to escape her traumatic relationship with her husband. However, her efforts came to a horrifying end on September 11, 2019 as Sasiharan attacked and killed her.
Her friends in Canada would like to get Tharshika's remains to Sri Lanka so that she can reach her final resting place with her family. Her friends would also like to ensure that her family is taken care of while they mourn the loss of their loving daughter.
This GoFundMe is organized by ISEE INITIATIVE on behalf of the family and friends of Tharshika Jeganathan.
ISEE INITIATIVE is a non-profit organization based in Toronto with an aim to provide education and create awareness about domestic violence among all individuals in order to overcome socio-cultural barriers and offer multi-level support in the empowerment and rehabilitation of domestic violence victims.
