My name is Tapuwa Jerahuni. On the 26th of December, I’ll be running a 42km marathon in Lusaka, Zambia, to raise funds for two incredible organizations namely UMOYO Orphans and Widows Home and the WONS Foundation.
Christmas is coming, and for most of us, it’s a time for family, friends, and joy. But for the children and widows in these homes, it’s a different story. That feeling of togetherness is something they rarely get to experience.
UMOYO would love to host a Christmas Day feeding program for 126 children and 68 widows. They want to make it special with food, drinks, and cake obviously! A celebration that feels like love and family.
The WONS Foundation is also in desperate need of help. They care for vulnerable children, including a few disabled children, and urgently need food supplies like mealie meal, cooking oil, beans, kapenta, sugar, and eggs. They also need essential groceries like diapers, soap, tissues, detergents, Vaseline, and toothpaste.
The funds raised will go towards meeting these needs. They will provide groceries, essentials, clothes, and hopefully toys to bring joy to the kids. Even the smallest contribution can remind them they aren’t alone, that someone out there cares.
Let’s make this Christmas one they’ll never forget and let this event be a testament to what we as humans stand for, love. Our love. Gods love.
