Brent James Hewitt was a great friend and Brother to me. I have had the privilege of knowing Brent since he was 2 years old. Growing up we spent many vacations with the Hewitt’s, ski trips to Tahoe, Relaxing in Borrego, and countless Birthday parties at Pacific Ranch pool. I always viewed myself as a Big Brother to Brent and Brian, which was funny considering that him and Nicholas tower over me now at 6’ plus.

Brent had the most amazing spirit and light about him. He was always there with a quick joke or smart comment that made you smile even if he was insulting you. An intoxicating laugh that on occasion could be heard for miles. Brent or Bartly as he was come to be known was always in good spirits and down for anything. Throughout our lifetime we have had many crazy adventures but the times I will cherish most were the Mister Sushi dinners, daily surf missions to Cardiff, D St & Grandview. Not to mention our latest trip to Cabo this past August.

I imagine Brent up in heaven now playing golf with his Grandfather Blacky, surfing with his buddy Siri and snowboarding with Garnet. He is looking down on us now and would want us to be happy. His reach has spanned internationally and we can all say that we will carry a piece of Brent with us in our hearts forever.

We never know what God’s plan is for us. Why he would take Brent at this stage in his life will forever be a mystery. The only reason I can see is that God needed another Angel right now and Brent was the only one qualified for the position!

As a Memorial to Brent we are raising money to put a Bench in his honor at the Pacific Ranch Tennis Court. This is a place where Brent spent many days playing tennis a game which he loved !

 Brent knew the meaning of happiness and I will forever be grateful to have had the time we spent together. I will miss you dearly my friend. This is not goodbye, but simply “Aloha” until we meet again!
