Hi friends, family and supporters. T'Challa's family is heartbroken and worried about their beloved family dog. In addition to so many medical needs with the kids (3 of them are Luries Childrens' regulars for a cardiac condition, immune issues and a diphragmatic hernia), their new rescue pup got horribly sick. A few days ago, he became lethargic, wouldn't eat, couldn't stand and seemed to be in a lot of pain. He was taken to the vet for a barium study thinking maybe a blockage and was given IV fluids for dehydration. H They tried a muscle relaxer for the pain to no avail. Later, he developed a high fever, elevated proteins and was getting worse. Off to the ER they went. If you don't know, ER vets are very expensive, but the only hope is to help your dog live and not watch him be in such pain. Originally, meningitis was suspected, he had all the symptoms. They recommended an MRI and spinal tap. Of course you say yes to all tests and hope to figure out the finances later because, as you can imagine, Jo-Cele and her family were heartbroken and so in love with their new rescue baby. The vet discovered an Inflammatory and Infectious Diseases of the Spinal Column called Discospondylitis between T7 and T8, causing him such pain, on the MRI and decided the spinal tap may not be necessary, but instead of saving money on that, more tests/cultures, etc were needed to be able to properly treat and get T'Challa home and out of pain. There are two types of this, one is a lifetime of meds, the other is months, please, please, be the shorter recovery! He was able to come home, along with his handfuls of medicines that he will be on for 6-12 months and a $7600 bill.
