Help Espen Get to Washington, DC

Hello,

My name is Espen Rushing, I am 14 years old and I have been nominated by my social studies teacher to attend the Junior National Young Leaders Conference this year in Washington, DC as a representative of my school. I am an honor roll student athlete, a great leader and role model. This conference is an amazing opportunity for me to travel, surround myself with like minded peers, and learn more about leadership, empowerment, and becoming equipped as the next generation of leaders.

This opportunity is important to not only my parents but specifically me, as this couldn't come at a more perfect time. After suffering from a near sudden cardiac death, a week in the hospital fighting for my life, and then returning home with no physical evidence of what I went through; what doctors say is a 1% chance of surviving. Receiving this invitation in the mail days after my hospital discharge and saw this as an opportunity to be the example of how to persevere and continue to be a leader even after adversity.

The funds that are raised will be used to pay for my tuition for the 7 day conference in Washington, DC (July 13th-19th) and travel expenses which include flights, hotel and food for the duration of the trip.
