Let's put the PUBLIC back in TCAPS public schools!

Donation protected
TCAPS Truth is seeking donations in order to take legal action against the TCAPS Board.  We need $25,000 to pay for legal costs and tools to share information with the public.*

WHY:
TCAPS paid $180,000 to a new Superintendent to leave without explanation to the taxpayers paying the bill.  Why?

TCAPS threatened criminal charges against a Board member for speaking to the public.  Why?

TCAPS refuses to answer questions about a secret no-bid contract for a friend of TCAPS executives. Why?

TCAPS refuses to release public records that have been requested under FOIA.  Why?

TCAPS Board and Executives hide behind false claims of privilege and confidentiality.  Why?

TCAPS VIOLATIONS:
The TCAPS Board has been making significant decisions behind closed doors, in violation of the Open Meetings Act.   In an attempt to keep these actions away from public scrutiny, TCAPS has refused to produce documents subject to the Freedom of Information Act – leaving the public completely in the dark.   Because of the excuses used by the TCAPS Board to deny information to the public, rumors are circulating, and those rumors undermine the community’s faith in public education.  We need to silence rumors with facts:  Is there a complex web of alliances, conflicts of interest, behind-closed-door manipulations, improper expenditure of taxpayer funds, and threats of retaliation against whistle-blowers within the system?  We intend to find out.

WHO WE ARE:
TCAPS Transparency for Truth & Accountability (TCAPS Truth) has formed to search for the causes and effects behind these and other alarming TCAPS actions, and to work for a better future for our district.  Our goal is to put the concept of “public” back into our local “public education."  We are a non-profit, nonpartisan organization seeking truth and accountability in all areas of TCAPS.  We  represent the interests of the greater TCAPS community that has been left out of the public process for too long.  We are committed to promoting transparency, good governance and fiscal responsibility within TCAPS for the betterment of our children's education.  We have established the basis for a successful suit and are ready to take action.

WHAT WE WILL DO:
The taxpayers deserve to know the inner workings of the TCAPS Board that affect our children, our teachers, our administrators, and our community.   The Record-Eagle has launched an eloquently-detailed lawsuit to acquire documents. They are representing the rights of the press.  We believe the taxpayers also deserve a seat at the table.  Our tax dollars are being misspent without explanation.  We hope to use our lawsuit to demand the disclosure of additional information that has been wrongfully denied to the public.

WHEN:
In the very near future.

YOU CAN HELP:
Please help us raise $25,000 to pay for the legal fees associated with the lawsuit and tools needed to share information with the community.*
