Anyone who knows Lindsey knows she has always been my gypsy sister... a free spirit that lets her soul follow where the winds of adventure take her. But something turned out different on her last adventure. She was at Stagecoach Festival on April 30th when her life changed... Lindsey had been feeling some pain in her legs... her left leg most predominantly. As the day went on the pain worsened... her leg began to feel hard as rock and she knew something was wrong. After the long drive to get home, she got to my Dad's house and no longer could she walk with ease inside to tell him she was hurting...she had to crawl. After screaming for my Dad in the wee hours of the morning, he woke up, and knew she needed to rushed to the hospital.

12 hours of testing, crying, screaming for the pain to go away... a surgeon told her she was to be rushed into emergency surgery....she had compartment syndrome and the final words she heard were : "I promise I will try to save your left leg" Lindsey woke up in post op...with her left leg, but with the knew knowledge that they had also operated on her right leg. Compartment syndrome is EXTREMELY rare and Lindsey's case more rare than others. She did not have an acute injury, she did not have something traumatic happen to her leg... We don't know why this happened. She spent 21 days in the hospital. She has had 2 surgeries so far and the third one is today. The first opened both legs up and they stayed open. The second closed up her right leg. But today's is the one that will be the hardest with so many unknowns...they will close up her left with multiple skin grafts.

We do not know what the insurance will cover, but I know this will be a tough road financially on top of recovering. There are hospital costs, surgery costs, PT and recovery costs. There may be additional surgeries later for nerves and any unknowns. In addition there are lost wages and income...time frame also unknown.

Lindsey has always taken pride in helping those who are in need... and now I humbly ask for any help she can get. We thank everyone that has reached out, gone to see her, called, text, prayed, shared stories and laughs with her. She is the strongest person I know and I can't wait for the day my gypsy is traveling with the wind again. But for now...we will keep praying and we know God is watching over her.
