The tragic 7.8 intensity earthquake in Nepal has massively destroyed the villages in Sindhupalchowk and Bhaktapur which were very close to the epicenter. The earthquake has taken over 7,000 lives, affected more than 8 million people, destroyed the homes of many survivors and left them without food, water and basic supplies.
“Almost all people are starved.. What is the government doing? There are lots of dead body underneath the cracked and broken home, decomposed body with foul smelling surrounding… Foods and tents are most needed things…So requesting you all kind hearted people for your help to our village” – Ms. Sabina Parajuli, native of Sangachowk village in Sindupalchowk. She also stated that her village has not received assistance from the Red Cross, UNICEF or any foreign aid to date.

My Relationship with the Parties I am Fundraising:
My sister and I grew up in Kathmandu, Nepal. We have lived there for over 16 years. Our paternal hometown is Nala, which is about 13 km away from Bhaktapur. We currently live in the United States. Being so far away from home, we want to help in every little way possible to resolve the current crisis in Nepal. Therefore, we have assigned volunteers in Bhaktapur and Sindupalchowk who have been giving us updates on the curent situation in these areas. In addition, my close friend, Ms. Eliza Karki, will also be be taking charge in providing relief supplies in Nala, Nepal.
How the Funds will be Spent:
The funds from this campaign will provide immediate needs such as food, temporary shelter, water and medical supplies to the earthquake survivors who have received little or no help so far. All donations to this fund will be allocated directly to both of these earthquake affected areas. We will post our progress reports through photos, logistics and updates to all the donors. We will keep our donors up-to-date with latest news and are ready to answer any questions.
We are doing our best to fundraise in order to provide direct help to the survivors who are in real need. $1 in the U.S. is equal to 100 Rupees in Nepal. That 100 Rupees in Nepal can buy about 3 lbs of rice which feeds a family of 4, twice a day. So, each dollar counts, each donation counts, and each word of mouth counts. Please donate and share within your network.
