As some of you know, our dear friend Keri, has recently been diagnosed with a rare form of breast cancer, called metaplastic carcinoma. It took longer to diagnose it because it is so rare. It was discovered from a mammogram after feeling a lump, followed by a biopsy. It tends to be a more aggressive form of breast cancer.
We all know Keri. In the words of Shariann, “She has been scared and she has been brave. She is present to all her emotions and is also taking action to do what she can control to treat this”, which gives her hope and faith. And true to who she is, she looks at this as another opportunity to learn and grow.
I have an agenda for Keri and a request. I want her to be able to sail through this journey with as much ease, elegance, and peace as possible. The physical part is what is scary. The Kaiser doctors are recommending standard treatment: surgery, chemo, radiation. Her surgery date is June 27th, where they will analyze her lymph nodes to see whether or not it has spread, what stage it is in and how extensive her treatment “ought” to be. And, that is where we come in.
Everyone asks, “WHAT CAN I DO?” I know something she wants but would never dream of asking for. It is what I want for her too. I want her to feel like she can afford whatever complimentary / alternative / holistic treatment her spirit guides her to. Whether it is high dose Vitamin C IVs, ozone therapy, healthy food service, detox/cleanses, consultations with practitioners, you name it. None of these are covered by insurance and they add up fast. As I write this, she is at the Optimum Health Institute for a cleanse week. I would like for her to be able to go back without worrying about what it costs. We have also talked about a form of testing that will determine what type of chemo will be most effective for her tumor. Because of her type of cancer, this becomes even more imperative. This isn’t covered either. What I really want is for her to feel totally free to take care of herself and take the BEST course of action, no matter what it is, without financial strain and worry.
So what can you do? You can donate through this site. The amount doesn’t matter as every bit adds up! It is up to you. Each of you has your own unique relationship with Keri. I just know this is something she would love, this is something she deserves, and it is something that would truly help her. So I am letting you know it is available.
This is so that when people ask Keri, “What can I do for you?” I want her to be able to say, “This. You can do this.”
I honor and respect your beautiful relationship with Keri, as I value and cherish mine with her. I know that she has given so much of herself all of her adult life, and it is her time to fully receive all of our love. I know that she is overwhelmed with the outpouring of love she is already receiving. And she is also overwhelmed with "what should she do next." I know how it feels when you, a friend, can actually DO something. That is why I am doing this!
All you have to do is give if you can, and again, every little bit helps. I know she would love to see your name so she can feel you and thank you, no matter the amount. I am also sure this will challenge and stretch her ability to receive. And if you prefer to, you can donate anonymously. I thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me realize this for her too! Let us help Keri focus on HEALING!
