SUPPORT for kidney failure
Donation protected
Update - 4/13/24- Hey everyone! The latest update on Kevin is he's known taking class to start doing his dialysis at home ...this is a great thing for several reasons, the home machine is less "pull" on the body and the heart.
He won't leave out for treatment anymore and he's more in control of the scheduling for it...Kevin has now completed all of his testing and so now we're waiting on that call to say a transplant is happening!!!
Where the GoFundMe comes in place is because during his treatment at the center, the bill after insurance is thousands of dollars and currently Kevin is receiving short term disability which is only a percentage of his salary...so financially things have drastically changed.
Any donations are truly appreciated..
Please continue to keep Kevin and our family lifted up in prayer
Hello, my name is Nelisa, I am writing this on behalf of my husband Kevin. Kevin is at stage 5 kidney failure and he needs a donor.
Kevin is 36, we’ve been married for almost 7 years and we have one child, her name is Stori, she’s 5 and her dad is her superhero and honestly, he’s mine too. We know this is a huge thinh to ask of people but unfortunately this is where we are. I'm an educator and Kevin is in escalated customer relations...We have both recently had to file for FMLA and with that, we're both getting just a percentage of our salaries. Kevin being in kidney failure bring forward a lot of expenses, aside from the lost income we have medical expenses, copays, deductibles, medications, dialysis needs etc ..
A little about Kevin, he’s a laid-back guy who enjoys time with his friends and family, he’s born and raised in Virginia. Next to family and God, there are sports(lol) throughout his youth and further Kevin has played baseball, football and was on the school wrestling team, as an adult Kevin spent years doing flag football with his friends. Getting a new kidney is getting a new lease on life that would allow him to go back to all the physical activities he loves without always feeling fatigued due to kidney failure.
As a family we enjoy going to the park to walk the track and to let our daughter play on the playground, we also enjoy family games at home, most of which is our daughter tackling him and using him as her own personal teddy bear. I can’t imagine life without these moments. My biggest fear is having to tell her that her father is leaving us, she sees him as her protector, her superhero and her best friend.
Kevin has so much more life to live, in many ways he’s on the way to a new life, during covid-19 Kevin received his master’s degree in cyber security and is looking forward to getting into that field but his health condition has that on a standstill because his health is the priority right now. I know that with a new kidney he would be ready to hit the ground running! He’s a go getter and a great provider for his family.
I have lupus and for the last 5 years Kevin has been my shoulder to lean on, and has been the piece to the puzzle when I can’t provide it! Now it’s my turn to do the same for him. I also have an eye disease that has prevented me from driving so he’s the sole driver in our house to and from work, taking Stori to ballet and gymnastics and making sure our family has everything we need. He’s a crucial piece to our family functioning every day...If Kevin is unable to drive at times Uber/Lyft etc is another expense we would be picking up.
Someone donating a kidney to Kevin is not just saving him but it’s keeping our family together and at peace from heartbreak....Anyone willing to donate monetarily is also a huge blessing to us!!
I’ll end this by saying thank you ten times over to everyone who donates! We are grateful!
