Help Feed the Animals!

Tax deductible
It is hard to ask, but we need financial help! Sara's Sanctuary needs immediate help to continue feeding and caring for its rescued animals.

The sanctuary has been in operation for 25 years rescuing all species of captive-born wildlife, but now is in a precarious financial situation. After COVID hit, fundraising events were cancelled, and donations decreased by half. In the meantime, the cost of food and materials has skyrocketed to double the previous costs. They are struggling to keep up with these expenses as they spend $5,000 + a month to care for the animals.

Closure is not an option for these animals; there is nowhere for them to go. Placement in sanctuaries for captive-born wildlife is difficult enough on its own, but to add to that, many of our rescues have been with us for over 20 years and are now seniors. They face ongoing physical and mental challenges for which their diets and habitats need continuous changes to provide them with optimum health and comfort as they age.

Some people think owning an exotic animal is “cool,” so they purchase them as babies thinking they would be fun pets, most often illegally. They all grow up, and soon they find out that these animals are destructive, at times aggressive, and dangerous to family members. Because it is illegal in our state to own these animals, they are often kept in secret, many times languishing in a dog kennel in a dark garage. It is heartbreaking to see what these animals must endure because of people’s poor judgment in purchasing these wild creatures.

We are hoping to raise $30,000 to provide 6 months of food and help the sanctuary get back on their feet again. Please pass this on to a friend, co-worker, or anyone who loves animals - any help at all will make a huge difference!

Just a few pictures of the sanctuary’s rescued animals and the specialized diets they require to live long lives and thrive!

No, these are not Pets!

Sara's Sanctuary does their absolute best for every animal that comes to them, and to stand up for the welfare of all animals.

What Sara's Sanctuary does is truly a labor of love, and there are always more animals in need.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our urgent need for help. Please help us spread the word about these animals in need.
