Hope for Lucas

Hello, my name is Lucas, a 5 year-old real-life super hero living with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (a neuromuscular degenerative disease). Our family has been incredibly blessed with unimaginable opportunities for my medical treatment and care, but this journey has also led to some financial challenges along the way. We are hoping to raise funds to cover this year’s (2024) expenses related to my medical treatment, as well as activities that significantly impact my quality of life in a positive way (i.e., physical therapy, recreational therapy, bi-weekly adaptive swimming lessons, piano lessons, a group exercise class, and a 2-week special needs horseback riding camp in the summer). Our family is beyond grateful for the anonymous donor who suggested that we start this fund after seeing our story on WCVB Channel 5, and for everyone who might be interested in sharing or contributing to this fundraising initiative in the future. Hola, mi nombre es Lucas, un superhéroe de 5 años diagnosticado en 2022 con Distrofia Muscular de Duchenne (enfermedad degenerativa neuromuscular). Desde entonces, mi familia y yo hemos sido bendecidos con oportunidades inimaginables de acceder a mis tratamientos médicos e intervenciones de última generación. Sin embargo, hemos encontrado también grandes desafíos en el camino, entre ellos, el económico. Con lo anterior, estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir los gastos de este año (2024) relacionados con mis tratamientos médicos y actividades que impactan positivamente mi calidad de vida (fisioterapia, terapias recreativas, clases de natación, clases de piano, un curso de equinoterapia en el verano, entre otras). Gracias a un donante anónimo que vio nuestra historia en el canal 5 WCVB, decidimos crear esta iniciativa.
